Blea Tarn, Langdale, in the autumn - one of my favourite places in the Lake District, and indeed anywhere in the world!
A photographers dream! Stunning views can be found at Blea Tarn in the Lake District - especially in the autumn. In the distance you can see the Langdale Pikes.
The perfect spot for some Autumnal Views
Blea Tarn is one of my favourite places in the Lake District - and being in the middle of a spectacular autumn with the sun beaming down - I thought I would pay the place a visit to take some photos, have a little wander around and enjoy the sunshine, peace and quiet.
For those not familiar with Blea Tarn in the Lake District, it is an idyllic little tarn in the Langdale area. Whilst it looks remote (there are hardly any buildings around this area) - you can actually drive up to the Tarn along a narrow, sometimes steep, country lane. I did on this occasion and a National Trust car park is about 100m from where the photo above was taken! So it is very accessible really if you have a car (about a 30 min drive west from Ambleside). If you haven't been - hopefully these photos convince you to do so!

I have circled Blea Tarn here so you can see exactly where it is in the Langdale Valley, and there are 2 ways to approach by car, I typically approach from the North End via Chapel Stile.
Whilst photos of Blea Tarn at the waters edge are popular, the views above Blea Tarn from Mart Crag are equally, if not more impressive - and you won't find many people up here.

On this particular day i visited I didn't do any serious walking, just a wander around the path around the western side of the Tarn, and then a short walk uphill to Mart Crag and back. There are some cracking walks you can do in this particular area though, with one highlighted below, taken from http://www.leaney.org
This walk around the fells surrounding Blea Tarn starts from the car park and gives stunning views of the area. You can find out more on this particular walk over at http://www.leaney.org/journal.php?id=603
